I’m pretty sure a lot of you know about HackTivision by know based on the faux Friday the 13th series video game trailer that’s been making the rounds on social media for a while now. Well, HacktiVision is back at it again with a new trilogy of games for us to play: The Gates of Hell trilogy!
You can read more about it here. The concept is ludicrous: each movie gets it’s own cartridge, but with stacking technology like Sonic & Knuckles players can combine the games together to make their own epic 8-bit horror masterpiece videogame! Be on the lookout for a cameo appearance from Dario Argento! Mini-games abound! This is madness! Check out the trailer OMG:
Fabio Frizzi’s score in 8-bit makes me so happy! I have the soundtracks for all his work downloaded on my phone and I end up listening to The Beyond soundtrack probably once a week or so during my down time at work. This whole thing is so unbelievably goofy and great. The work here captures what is best about the films and NES games.
And look at the cast of characters!
I want to be an 8-bit bottle of J&B! Look at the New York Ripper!
I hope one day Doctor Terror can start up a kickstarter to make these games a reality….this is a horror fan/old video game person’s dream come true.
