O.H.M.A.D. Day 19: Pumpkinhead 2: Blood Wings (1993)


The original Pumpkinhead was a no-nonsense, straight forward horror/fairy tale hybrid with a simple and entertaining story line.  Pumpkinhead 2:  Blood Wings is a convoluted mess that epitomizes the best and worst of direct to video 1990’s horror.  Andrew Robinson (Hellraiser, Dirty Harry) was seemingly paid to chew the scenery as the films lead, Sheriff Braddock.  Robinson’s overly melodramatic character spends most of the film acting with his eyebrows to show how he feels about a situation.  As a veteran actor who can really bring it, it shows just how little he really cares about this film, and you can’t blame him. O.H.M.A.D. Day 12: Pumpkinhead (1988)


Pumpkinhead is a nasty slice of southern-gothic revenge starring Lance Henrikson (Near Dark, Aliens) as the lead character Ed Harley.  Harley is a single father and the proprietor of a rural grocery store in the deep south.  He lives alone with his young son, whom he loves dearly.  After his son is accidentally killed by a group of teen dirt-bike riders, Harley seeks some the dark magic of a local witch for revenge.  Harley and the witch summon the demon Pumpkinhead, but Harley soon finds that this isn’t what he bargained for.
